Probe launched into death of MBBS student at Chennai Medical College.

INDIA, Feb 15: The Greater Chennai Police have initiated an investigation into the tragic demise of a third-year MBBS student at the Government Stanley Medical College in Chennai. The student, identified as Ranjith, aged 25 and hailing from Kerala, was discovered deceased within his hostel quarters.

Concerns arose on Wednesday when Ranjith was absent from his class and campus engagements. His classmates, upon realizing his absence, visited his hostel room. Upon discovering the door locked and receiving no response from Ranjith despite repeated attempts to contact him, they sought assistance from hostel security.

Subsequently, the door was forced open, revealing Ranjith in an unconscious state on his bed. He was promptly transported to the Medical College hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Following necessary procedures, Ranjith's remains will be handed over to his family after completion of post-mortem examinations.

A senior officer from the Greater Chennai Police, when approached for comment by IANS, stated that forensic examinations were underway. Further investigative steps will be determined based on the findings from the post-mortem and forensic reports.
