KUWAIT CITY, June 1: Chairman of the Farwaniya Committee in the Municipal Council Khaled Al-Mutairi says Farwaniya Governorate suffers from many problems, namely the issue of bachelors’ housing, traffic congestion, lack of cleanliness, and non-maintenance of public gardens. Al-Mutairi said this in a press statement issued on the sidelines of an official visit by members of the committee to the Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Sabah, which comes within the framework of periodic follow-up and coordination between the Municipal Council and the official authorities to follow up the implementation of all plans and solutions proposed to accelerate the wheel of achievement.

He revealed that the committee’s visit to Farwaniya Governorate was fruitful, and it was agreed with the Governor Sheikh Athbi to develop a work program with the Municipal Council to activate cooperation between the two parties. Al-Mutairi concluded by praising Sheikh Athbi’s understanding of the problems that Farwaniya Governorate suffers from, adding that the governor assured full readiness to harness all capabilities and efforts to address them with the cooperation and support of the Municipal Council. Meanwhile, a Municipal Council member Alia Al-Farsi said Farwaniya Governorate is one of Kuwait’s governorates that is no less important than other governorates.

Cooperation
She stressed the need for enhancing communication between the concerned authorities, extending a hand of cooperation, and paying attention to the challenges being faced. Al-Farsi affirmed that this positive trend is one of the most prominent things that enhance the development of the governorate’s areas. She appreciated the interest of the Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Al-Sabah in improving the level of services in the governorate and his understanding of the magnitude of the responsibility placed on his shoulders.

Al-Farsi explained that the Municipal Council, particularly the members of Farwaniya Committee, are extending every cooperation to resolve the issues of cleanliness, beautification and development of the governorate’s areas especially Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh, and discussing the approval of public utility and other powers to organize, beautify and develop the area, in addition to the redevelopment and operation of the zoo, and other matters that seek to achieve the best urban and aesthetic standards for the governorate. Furthermore, a member of the Farwaniya Committee Walid Khaled Al-Dagher said, “We were pleased with the visit of the Farwaniya Governor.

During the visit, the most important challenges facing the governorate were addressed along with the most prominent needs of its various areas related to the concerns of the Municipal Council. It will work on removing obstacles and stressing the problem of bachelors’ housing and permanent coordination in order to reach solutions that would contribute to the development process of the governorate’s areas. Also, the Rapporteur of the Farwaniya Committee in the Municipal Council Abdullah Al-Enezi described the meeting with the Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Al-Sabah as fruitful and positive. He explained that many issues related to the governorate were discussed, at the forefront of which is the issue of bachelors living in private housing in violation of regulations and laws. They also highlighted the existing traffic congestion between the Ardiya and Ardiya industrial areas, which constitutes a disturbing concern for citizens.

Solution
Al-Enezi stressed the need to find a quick solution to it as soon as possible, adding, “We appreciate the keenness of Municipal Council President Abdullah Al-Mahri to cooperate with the relevant authorities in the country to solve the problems facing citizens.” In addition, a member of the Farwaniya Committee in the Municipal Council Ismail Behbehani said, “I was honored to visit the Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Athbi Al-Sabah, along with my fellow members of the Farwaniya Committee”. He praised the distinguished and kind reception he received.

Behbehani explained that the members of the Municipal Council discussed the most prominent problems that the governorate suffers from and the challenges that are faced in developing solutions for them, especially with regard to Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, which is characterized by a unique strategic location in the country and is supposed to be one of the most beautiful areas and sites in Kuwait, but the reality indicates otherwise.

The area has been completely destroyed and its infrastructure is dilapidated due to the huge number of its residents, which exceeds its capacity of people. The committee also discussed with the governor the problem of expatriate bachelors living in private housing areas. He revealed through his chairmanship of the complaints committee in the Municipal Council, more than one complaint was presented to him by citizens living in private residential areas such as Khaitan, Ishbiliya, and Sabah Al-Nasser. Behbehani explained that these citizens are unhappy about the fact that their neighbors are bachelors, and their housing violates the conditions for using private housing as investment. The units are divided in a manner that violates the law, which negatively affects the citizens in the area and the quality and level of services.
