Meghan Markle

LONDON, July 30: In a new revelation from royal correspondent Robert Jobson’s forthcoming book, “Catherine, the Princess of Wales,” it has been claimed that Prince William prohibited Meghan Markle from wearing the late Princess Diana’s jewelry at her wedding to Prince Harry.

Jobson, whose excerpts were obtained by the Daily Mail, details that the Prince of Wales, concerned about the speed of his brother's relationship with Markle, sought assurances from Queen Elizabeth II. He was reportedly anxious about Markle’s adjustment to royal life and sought to ensure that she would not wear any of Diana’s jewelry, despite Catherine, Princess of Wales, having been permitted to wear pieces from the collection due to her status.

William’s decision was influenced by his belief that Markle needed more time to adapt to royal traditions. Jobson writes that this move further strained the relationship between the estranged brothers. William's concerns about the fast pace of Harry and Markle’s relationship allegedly contributed to their growing rift, which is said to have worsened before Markle formally joined the royal family.

The book also recounts that Harry felt insulted by William’s suggestion to slow down the relationship, a sentiment that intensified their conflict. This discord is referenced in Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” where he describes an altercation with William.

Harry and Markle began their relationship in June 2016, with Harry proposing in November 2017. The couple married at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

In a separate claim from Jobson’s book, it is reported that King Charles and Prince William had a heated disagreement over the safety of the royal family’s helicopter travel. Charles, 75, reportedly expressed concerns about the risks associated with the helicopter use, resulting in a formal document being presented to William, acknowledging the associated risks and taking responsibility.

The Post has reached out to Kensington Palace for a comment on these claims.
