Microsoft expands to Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: The Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority has approved the establishment of Microsoft Kuwait, a subsidiary of the American tech giant Microsoft Corporation, with an initial capital of one million dinars, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The capital is divided into 100,000 shares, each valued at 10 dinars. According to the company’s articles of association, Microsoft Kuwait will be headquartered in Kuwait, with the flexibility to expand through branches and agencies both within the country and internationally. The company’s activities will include computer programming, data processing, website hosting, computer consulting and facilities management services. The term of the company’s contract is set for 30 years, with the possibility of extension upon the owner’s request. Additionally, Microsoft Kuwait is authorized to engage in activities related to or complementing its core business. This move by Microsoft is part of a growing trend of major international companies choosing to establish a presence in the Kuwaiti market, attracted by the growth opportunities and the incentives provided by the country’s direct investment laws.
