KUWAIT CITY, July 20: The Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, has emphasized the critical role of the private sector in advancing electricity generation and water distillation projects. This call to action comes on the heels of the successful implementation of the North Al-Zour First Power Plant Project.
In a recent high-level meeting with ministry leaders, Dr. Bushehri reviewed the status of power generation and water distillation stations, along with the latest developments in the electrical and water networks. He assessed the anticipated electrical loads for the coming months and confirmed the ministry's readiness to meet the needs of all customer categories.
Dr. Bushehri outlined the ministry's future plans, which include new electricity generation projects, water desalination initiatives, renewable energy projects, and the development of smart networks and meters. He also discussed the expected timelines for these projects' implementation and completion.
Highlighting the importance of community awareness, Dr. Bushehri called for increased efforts to promote the rationalization of electricity and water consumption, especially during the peak summer months. He also underscored the benefits of the Hafez program, which offers discounts on electricity and water bills for those who demonstrate efficient use of these resources.
The meeting also covered financial and administrative updates, with a focus on improving the efficiency of dues collection, monitoring the progress of tenders with regulatory authorities, and accelerating their approval processes.
Dr. Bushehri stressed the importance of qualifying and training national cadres within the ministry, particularly recent graduates. He encouraged ministry leaders to foster a team-oriented environment, promptly complete assigned tasks, and work diligently to serve both citizens and residents in line with established procedures and regulations.
