KUWAIT CITY, Jan 28: Dr. Amthal AlHuwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, emphasized on Monday the importance of supporting local agricultural products and increasing their presence in consumer cooperative societies and sales outlets. She highlighted the ministry's commitment to developing the cooperative sector to further benefit the national economy.
This statement came after a meeting held by AlHuwailah with the follow-up committee for supporting local agricultural products in consumer cooperative societies. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, AlHuwailah explained that the meeting addressed several recommendations aimed at strengthening support for local products and ensuring adherence to the designated percentage of support. She noted that the ministry is working to improve control mechanisms to achieve a balance in supplying local products within cooperative societies, while also ensuring compliance with the regulations governing their support.
Furthermore, AlHuwailah mentioned that the meeting concluded with the establishment of a new mechanism to organize the purchasing process within cooperative societies. This new approach aims to ensure transparency and fairness in dealings with local producers. She added that the follow-up committee will provide the ministry with regular reports on its activities and recommendations, which will contribute to more efficient monitoring and development to achieve the desired goals.
In conclusion, AlHuwailah stressed the importance of "Kuwaitizing" the workforce within cooperative societies, as this would help create job opportunities for Kuwaitis and further support the national product in line with the country’s sustainable development goals.
