Higher Education Ministry strengthens measures against fake degrees in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nader Al-Jalal, has approved the recommendations of the Ministry’s Legal Affairs Sector and initiated legal actions by referring 13 cases to the Public Prosecution. These individuals were found to have submitted false or forged academic certificates to obtain certificate equivalence. Minister Al-Jalal emphasized that combating academic fraud is a critical responsibility towards the country and its citizens. He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding academic integrity, ensuring that those involved in such crimes will face legal consequences. Al-Jalal vowed to continue strengthening Kuwait’s educational system and fostering a society built on knowledge, creativity, and efficiency.

In other news, the Ministry of Education has announced that it will stop receiving applications for the Complaints and Grievances Committee after the two weeks set for submissions, according to Al-Seyassah daily. The committee has already received 41 cases highlighting serious financial and administrative irregularities, which are now being reviewed per legal protocols. The Ministry explained that the committee comprises representatives from four entities and is dedicated to ensuring transparency and justice in addressing the complaints. In addition to grievances, the committee is also reviewing files related to employees’ financial and administrative issues, in line with Minister Jalal Al-Tabtabaei’s directive to uphold legal standards.

The Ministry praised the efforts of its employees in facilitating the review process and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining fairness and integrity across all sectors. Minister Al-Tabtabaei emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation to foster a fair and transparent work environment for the benefit of citizens and the public interest. The committee will continue its work for three months, submitting monthly progress reports and a final report at the end of its term, with the possibility of requesting an extension if necessary.
