Nayef Al-Hajraf

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4 Just a week prior to discussing the grilling request submitted by MP Mohammad Hayef against Minister of Finance Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf, which is already in the parliamentary agenda for Nov 12, the minister has submitted his resignation from the position, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Reportedly, the resignation has been accepted, and there are indications that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh will be acting in that capacity temporarily.

The resignation came in preparatory to Dr Al-Hajraf assuming a new responsibility as the Secretary-General of the GCC Council in succession to Abdullatif Zayani who has been in the position since April 2011.

The development came after Oman apologized for not nominating a candidate for the position, and it thus became the turn of Kuwait to nominate a candidate.
