KUWAIT CITY, April 14: Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Meshaan has announced the launch of major maintenance work on Mohammed Saif Al-Barrak Street in the Al-Aqila area, as part of a series of new contracts for highway and internal road repairs. The initiative includes 18 major road maintenance projects covering all six governorates of Kuwait.

Dr. Al-Meshaan stated that maintenance efforts will prioritize the most damaged areas first, followed by less-affected regions. She emphasized that work will be carried out under strict supervision to ensure quality and efficiency. Monitoring teams from the Ministry of Public Works will oversee the implementation, and a dedicated committee has been formed to select qualified supervising engineers and conduct assessments to verify their readiness.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing road maintenance projects across all regions, adhering to international quality standards. She added that investing in infrastructure not only boosts economic growth but also improves quality of life and supports sustainable development.

Engineer Talal Mohammed Al-Hujailan, supervisor of Contract 15 for the first zone in the Ahmadi Governorate, confirmed that Ministry teams are actively monitoring developments on Mohammed Saif Al-Barrak Street. He explained that the work includes laying a 6 cm thick layer of "Type 2" asphalt, followed by a 5 cm thick layer of "Type 3" to be applied the next day.

In related developments, Engineer Abdullah Al-Kandari reported that major maintenance work will also be carried out on Road 245 and in several residential areas, including Mangaf Block 4, Fahad Al-Ahmad Block 1, and Aqila Block 1, over the coming weeks.
