KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) affirmed its commitment to overseeing fish and shrimp auctions, ensuring that all procedures comply with relevant laws and regulations. In a press statement issued on Monday, the ministry addressed misinformation circulating on social media regarding the alleged advance sale of large quantities of fish at the auction, calling the claims "not true."

The MoCI emphasized that all fish auctions are conducted under the direct supervision of its inspection teams. It assured the public that approved procedures are strictly followed to maintain transparency and fairness in the sales process. The ministry urged individuals to verify the accuracy of information before sharing or circulating any false claims.

According to the MoCI, the auction process begins daily in the early morning, starting with shrimp and followed by fish. The ministry clarified that the quantity referenced in the circulated video, totaling 46.5 tons, is too large to be accommodated in the auction yard at once. (KUNA)
