KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs at the Education Ministry Mansour Al-Dhafiri has instructed the directors general of educational districts, director of the Religious Education Department and director of the Special Education Schools Department to ensure the safety of drinking water in schools; as part of preparations for the academic year 2024/2025.

Al-Dhafiri ordered sending a circular to all schools to take the necessary measures to guarantee the maintenance of drinking water networks in schools by coordinating with the engineering affairs departments in the educational districts, starting from the drinking water tanks up to the point of consumption. He stressed the need to replace water cooler filters after cleaning and washing the water tanks in order to ensure the supply of water that is suitable for drinking and free of pollutants.

Educational sources stated that the maintenance of drinking water networks in schools to ensure that the water is pure and potable is essential in protecting the health of students, because contaminated water could lead to serious diseases, especially since children are more susceptible to infection. Sources explained that a safe educational environment is not limited to the educational aspects, as it includes the provision of clean drinking water. They pointed out that regular maintenance of water networks, cleaning tanks and installing filters prevent the accumulation of pollutants and bacteria, which may cause health problems in the long run. Sources reiterated this requires coordination with the engineering affairs departments to ensure that maintenance operations are carried out in accordance with the best practices and health standards to guarantee the effectiveness of procedures and to reduce the risks.
