Ministry Of Health launches CPR awareness campaign in October

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Ministry of Health has launched a campaign through its Medical Emergency Department to promote awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) under the slogan "Learn to Receive... Save and Care." This initiative coincides with October's designation as a month for public education on CPR skills and first aid culture, featuring a series of events across various shopping malls.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, Director of the Medical Emergency Department, announced Friday, that the campaign began at Avenues Mall and will continue throughout the month. The campaign aims to highlight CPR as a crucial life-saving technique useful in emergencies where breathing or pulse has ceased.

According to Dr. Al-Shatti, the campaign will encompass training courses and workshops in schools, universities, workplaces, and shopping malls. The goal is to equip as many individuals as possible with CPR skills, thereby improving survival rates in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. He also emphasized the vital role of emergency technicians in effectively responding to such situations.

The campaign underscores the importance of medical emergency responders as the first line of defense in cardiac arrest scenarios. These professionals provide immediate CPR and efficiently manage critical cases, playing a key role in saving lives.

Dr. Al-Shatti noted that acquiring CPR skills is essential for saving lives, minimizing harm, and empowering individuals to act during emergencies. The campaign aims to enhance health awareness, improve community preparedness for emergencies, and reduce injuries or fatalities resulting from daily accidents.

In addition to training, the campaign features an exhibition titled "Learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Skills... Learn to Pass On," which will be held over three days during both morning and evening hours. Technicians from ambulance services in the Sabah and Hawalli medical areas will be present to offer visitors the opportunity to check their blood pressure and blood sugar levels, as well as receive hands-on training in CPR and first aid for choking incidents.

Dr. Al-Shatti praised the significant contributions of medical emergency responders in saving lives and promoting health awareness. He highlighted their community outreach efforts and intensive campaigns that emphasize the importance of CPR and its correct execution, thereby enhancing the community's ability to intervene in emergencies prior to the arrival of ambulances.

Furthermore, he mentioned the collaboration with health institutions, hospitals, and health centers to implement comprehensive medical campaigns aimed at assessing health conditions that may predispose individuals to cardiac arrest and providing necessary awareness to those at risk.
