KUWAIT CITY, Nov 14: Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti, Director of the Medical Emergency Department at the Ministry of Health, emphasized the vital role of health awareness, first aid training, and emergency response in enhancing community safety, reducing complications, and reinforcing social responsibility.
In a speech delivered on Thursday at a ceremony honoring 100 medical emergency technicians and trainees, Dr. Al-Shatti celebrated the "heroes of medical emergencies" who have played a crucial role in these efforts. He noted that over 3,500 individuals participated in CPR and first aid training sessions conducted by the department across various shopping malls in October.
The courses were held over 11 consecutive days, totaling around 140 hours of targeted training, and were conducted at highly frequented malls across several governorates. The campaign began with a three-day event at the Avenues Mall, followed by events at Boulevard Mall and Promenade Mall. It then moved to Jahra Governorate at Slayil Jahra Mall, followed by sessions at 360 Mall in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, and concluded in the Capital Governorate at Mubarakiya Market.
Dr. Al-Shatti expressed gratitude to mall management and sponsors who helped turn this initiative into a valuable public service for Kuwait. He also thanked the emergency responders for their dedication, commitment, and selflessness in providing these services to people of all ages and professions.
Ambulance Supervisor Abdullah Al-Nafees highlighted the exceptional dedication shown by the medical emergency personnel in promoting first aid culture and raising community awareness. He noted that both the Ministry of Health and the Medical Emergency Department view first aid education as a crucial component of public health outreach, which is delivered through public events, workshops for state agencies, and certified medical emergency training centers.
Additionally, Al-Nafees acknowledged the team’s commendable role in the recent evacuation of Al-Ahmadi Hospital, where their professionalism and skill were evident in managing a large-scale emergency.
Commander Mahmoud Al-Jamali, head of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Ambulance Unit, praised the training center's rapid progress in providing professional courses and promoting first aid awareness to the public.
Similarly, Commander Jarrah Al-Fadhli of the Hawalli Ambulance Region expressed his pride in the training center's achievements, noting both the quality and breadth of its courses. (KUNA)
