Ministry of Information calls for responsible reporting amidst the spread of misinformation.

KUWAIT CITY, June 22: The Ministry of Information reiterated the importance of obtaining information from official sources and refraining from spreading rumors and false information in a statement released on Friday.

Lafi Al-Subaie, the Assistant Undersecretary for Press, Publishing, and Publications at the Ministry of Information, urged all media outlets to uphold media professionalism, ensure credibility, and prioritize the national interest.

Addressing recent instances where visual, print, and electronic media outlets have disseminated misinformation about government procedures, Al-Subaie emphasized that such actions could lead to legal consequences.

Al-Subaie highlighted the collective responsibility to ensure the accuracy of published, transmitted, or rebroadcasted news, cautioning that the Ministry would refer violators to the Media Violations Committee for legal action without prior warning.
