KUWAIT CITY, June 9: The Ministry of Interior, through its Traffic and Operations Sector, has intensified efforts to seize vehicles with required or expired insurance using modern traffic camera technology. This initiative, led by Major General Yousef Al Khadda, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operations Affairs, leverages advanced technology installed in security patrols and on all ring, main, and internal roads, as reported by the Al-Jarida newspaper.

Since the implementation of this modern system, the General Traffic Department has seized 176 vehicles lacking valid insurance or flagged as wanted. The Traffic and Operations Sector has continued to execute comprehensive traffic and security campaigns aimed at regulating traffic on public roads and residential areas and apprehending law violators.

Over the past week, this security campaign has resulted in 31,086 violations, the impoundment of 176 vehicles and 26 motorcycles, and the arrest of 43 violators. Additionally, 18 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without licenses, 31 individuals wanted for security and criminal cases and residency law violations were apprehended, and three cases of possession and use of narcotic substances were detected.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, Head of the Traffic Awareness Section at the General Traffic Department, explained that the Traffic Operations Sector developed a comprehensive traffic security plan covering all circular, main, expressway, and external roads. This plan aims to control the traffic situation, especially after field monitoring revealed a significant number of vehicles operating without renewed licenses and an increase in juveniles driving without licenses, particularly during high school exams and summer vacation.
