KUWAIT CITY, May 8: In a move aimed at optimizing staffing and ensuring a smooth transition in the educational sector, the Ministry of Education is set to refer 173 teachers and administrative officials to retirement. This decision comes as these individuals have surpassed a service period of 34 years, spanning the academic year 2023-2024 and the Gregorian year 2024.
According to informed sources within the Ministry, the administrative sector is currently finalizing the necessary procedures for retirement referrals. This includes securing approvals from insurance companies and verifying eligibility for retirement pensions.
The Ministry has compiled a list of eligible candidates, primarily Kuwaiti nationals, who have completed the requisite 34 years of service. Coordination with the Social Insurance Institution has identified 167 citizens eligible for retirement, comprising 156 teachers/supervisors and 11 administrative officials. Additionally, four non-Kuwaiti resident teachers and administrators are also slated for retirement.
The list encompasses educators from diverse specializations, ranging from school principals to mentors and observers. It is proposed that the retirement process will be staggered, with educational stage-specific referrals by the end of the academic year. Administrative officials not directly involved in school operations are expected to be retired by the conclusion of 2024.
