KUWAIT CITY, Mar 14: A tragic incident occurred in the Al-Mutlaa desert area, where an expatriate working as a salesman in a mobile grocery store was killed after being run over and dragged for a long distance by a driver. The suspect had asked the worker for items, refused to pay, and fled in his vehicle, forcing the worker to cling to the car in an attempt to stop him. This ultimately cost the worker his life. The Deputy Public Prosecutor has classified the case as premeditated murder and forcible robbery, ordering detectives to conduct necessary investigations and apprehend the perpetrator. Eyewitnesses revealed that the suspect's vehicle matched the description of one involved in at least 15 previous robbery cases.
According to a security source, the Ministry of Interior’s operations room received a report of a hit-and-run incident in the Al-Mutlaa desert. Security personnel and an ambulance rushed to the scene, where they found the worker lying on the ground, bleeding heavily and suffering from multiple fractures. He was in critical condition after being dragged for a significant distance.
The source added that the expatriate was immediately taken to Al-Jahra Hospital but succumbed to his severe injuries. An eyewitness informed investigators that a silver four-wheel-drive vehicle had stopped at the mobile grocery store where the victim worked. The perpetrator, who was inside the vehicle, requested food and soft drinks but fled without paying. When the worker tried to stop him and clung to the car, the suspect ran him over and dragged him along. The victim's body was later transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department for examination.
In a similar incident published by Arab Times on February 20, an unidentified individual stole items from a mobile grocery store. The perpetrator pulled the worker, deliberately pinning him against the car window and driving approximately 30 meters, causing severe injuries to the expatriate. The worker was admitted to the intensive care unit at Al-Jahra Hospital in critical condition, and the case was classified as a violent robbery.
An eyewitness described the event: "While waiting in my vehicle, I saw a golden four-wheel-drive car parked in front of the grocery store where the victim worked. When the order was being delivered, an argument broke out between the driver and the perpetrator, who then closed the car window. The worker grabbed onto the vehicle, and the perpetrator drove about 30 meters, dragging the victim along the ground before reopening the window, causing the worker to fall. The suspect fled to an unknown location.” The eyewitness also provided the vehicle’s license plate number.
Upon further investigation, in coordination with the General Traffic Department, it was discovered that the suspect was wanted in connection with a misdemeanor theft case at the Sulaibiya Police Station.
