KUWAIT CITY, July 29: The Ministry of Commerce closed 54 accounts specialized in online auctions for watches, precious items and others in coordination with the Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology, and at the request of the committee formed by both sides to deal with the issue.

Despite the large number of accounts that were closed, the ministry will once again inventory many other account data on social networking sites in cooperation with the authority to prevent any future sale of watches without oversight and subsequent appearance, sources said.

Chairman and CEO of the authority Eng  Salem Al-Athaina disclosed they received a statement from the Ministry of Commerce about a number of electronic auction accounts suspected of involvement in money laundering, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.

Al-Athaina added in a statement to Al-Jarida recently that the authority, in coordination with the ministry, has suspended a number of these suspicious accounts.  “We will work hard to stop more of them soon,” he concluded.
