KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: According to informed sources in the Ministry of Communications, five cases of corruption and suspicions of infringement on public funds had been monitored in the ministry. These cases are under investigation by the Public Prosecution. If the prosecution does not refer them to trial, the Fatwa and Legislation Department will be contacted to claim civil rights.

In a related context, the sources revealed that the Ministry lost 40 cases in the last five years, costing it KD 82.9 million. They indicated that the procedures related to these cases and other cases pending before the judiciary are being followed up in coordination with the Fatwa and Legislation Department. The sources affirmed the ministry’s keenness to combat financial and administrative corruption on three main axes - prior oversight, fact-finding, investigation, reporting, and holding corrupt people accountable in all sectors of the ministry.
