KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: Ministry of Education has requested Ministry of Finance for finances worth KD 47 million to pay housing allowance to female expatriate teachers in line with the decision taken by Civil Service Commission (CSC) following a court verdict, reports Al-Anba daily.

The court verdict had equalized Kuwaiti and expatriates teachers for the implementation of the decision to increase the housing allowance from KD 60 to KD 150 per month. According to informed sources, the housing allowance will not be disbursed before the ministry is allotted the necessary amount especially since the housing allowance will be paid retroactively for the last five years. They revealed that the decision will cover 9,000 teachers and the maximum housing allowance that will be provided for the last five years will be KD 5,400.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Education revealed that four committees have been formed in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower for conducting interviews of 300 Kuwaiti women per day who have applied for the position of female security guards in schools of the ministry based on governmental contracts, reports Al-Rai daily.

Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at Ministry of Education Yousef Al-Najjar sent a letter to the Assistant Secretary General of Public Authority for Manpower in which he explained that the committees have completed the interviews of candidates in Jahra and Capital educational zones. Contracts with private security companies have been finished in Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Hawally educational zones while the contracts with private security companies in Farwaniya and Ahmadi educational zones are being done.

He said Ministry of Education will not appoint any candidate who has not passed the interviews for the position of female security guard, adding the selected security guards will be distributed to schools close to the areas of their residence.
