KUWAIT CITY, May 29: In preparation for securing a full-capacity return to schools next year and to solve the problem of lack of cleaners, a problem that escalated during the past year, the Ministry of Education signed four cleaning tenders for four educational areas - Jahra, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Hawally and Farwaniya - at a total value of KD 17.5 million for a period of three years.

According to educational sources, the companies will begin their work of cleaning schools in mid-August. The ministry is currently working on completing tenders for the Capital and Ahmadi educational zones, the building of the ministry headquarters, and religious and special education schools, in preparation for distributing its labor needs to clean schools during the summer until the start date of the academic year.

The sources affirmed that the cleaning crisis in schools will end irreversibly after the necessary number of cleaners are provided to clean their facilities. They said the ministry will, on a daily basis, follow up the contracting companies’ implementation of the terms of contracts, and that it will agree to the terms related to the fines stipulated in the contracts for any violation that occurs, especially the violation of residency law.
