MoI cautions care in freak dusty weather

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26, (Agencies): The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior has urged citizens and residents to exercise caution due to the dust wave and adverse weather conditions currently affecting the country. These conditions have resulted in reduced visibility on some roads and high sea waves. The department advised the public to contact the Emergency No. (112) for security or traffic assistance, available 24/7. Additionally, sea-goers are encouraged to reach out to the Coast Guard Operations Department at (1880888) in case of any emergencies at sea. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecasted hot weather for the weekend, with daytime heat and temperatures gradually cooling to moderate levels by night.

Yasser Al-Balushi, Head of the Marine Forecasting Department, told KUNA that Kuwait is currently influenced by the seasonal Indian depression, bringing in a hot and relatively dry air mass. This system is accompanied by moderate to strong northwesterly winds, causing dust storms, reduced visibility in some areas, and elevated sea waves, especially on Thursday. Al-Balushi stated that Thursday’s daytime weather will be particularly hot, with northwesterly winds ranging from 25 to 65 km/h, resulting in dusty conditions and limited visibility. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius, while sea waves could reach heights between 3 and 7 feet. By evening, the weather will cool slightly, and the dust will begin to settle. Winds are expected to decrease to between 15 and 42 km/h, with minimum temperatures dropping to 26-28 degrees Celsius. The sea will remain moderate, with waves between 2 and 6 feet
