JEDDAH, March 18: The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has announced that the total number of worshippers at the Prophet's Mosque during the first half of Ramadan exceeded 14 million. This information was shared in the authority's statistical report on the services provided to visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque during this period, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

According to the report, 1,217,143 visitors came to greet the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his two companions. The number of permits issued for men to pray in the Rawdah Noble Sanctuary reached 223,742, while women were granted 155,630 permits.

The report also highlighted the extensive distribution of iftar meals to visitors, with more than 4.5 million meals served. Additionally, the consumption of Zamzam water reached 3,650 tons, and 422 samples of the water were analyzed. Over 81,000 liters of disinfection and sterilization materials were used to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.

Furthermore, the report mentioned the number of people benefiting from the various exhibitions and museums associated with the Prophet’s Mosque, which exceeded 18,000 visitors. More than 51,000 individuals made use of the Prophet’s Mosque Library, and nearly 84,000 people attended scientific lessons offered by the mosque.

In terms of transportation services, over 250,000 visitors used the provided carts, and 50,000 chairs were made available for elderly visitors. The cart loan service benefited more than 20,000 individuals. Parking spaces around the mosque also saw a high occupancy rate, reaching 95 percent.

The spatial guidance service assisted 47,761 visitors, while religious guidance services reached over 45,000 individuals. Additionally, field communication services in various languages served 22,000 visitors.

Regarding prayer room occupancy, the report indicated that the prayer rooms inside the Prophet’s Mosque were 93 percent occupied, while the external courtyards were more than 80 percent full. The roof of the mosque saw a 33 percent occupancy rate.

This comprehensive report underscores the significant efforts made by Saudi authorities to accommodate and assist the millions of worshippers visiting the Prophet's Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
