KUWAIT CITY, Nov 5: In a family dispute, the Family Court ordered the amendment of an inheritance certificate to include a Moroccan woman as one of the heirs of her deceased Kuwaiti husband after her marital relationship with him was legally established.

The woman filed the lawsuit after discovering that her husband's inheritance certificate had been issued without including her name, despite having obtained a previous court judgment confirming their marriage and a marriage certificate from the Sharia Documentation Department at the Ministry of Justice.

The court found that the documents submitted established her status as the deceased's wife, entitling her to inheritance under Sharia and Kuwaiti law.

Accordingly, the court ordered the amendment of the inheritance certificate to include her name and obligated the defendants to pay court expenses and attorney's fees.

The woman's lawyer, Jarrah Al-Malik, said the judgment reaffirmed that a wife's Sharia and legal rights must be protected once the marital relationship has been established, along with the legal rights and obligations arising from it.
