Mosques Across Kuwait to Reduce Prayer Time to Save Power

KUWAIT CITY, April 25 – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has affirmed its total cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to support national efforts in reducing electricity consumption. As part of this initiative, all mosques across the country will observe a maximum interval of ten minutes between the call to prayer (adhan) and the start of the prayer (iqamah)

This announcement was made in a statement received by KUNA, referring to a recent directive issued to imams and muezzins by Bader Al-Otaibi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Mosques Sector. The directive aims to reduce the interval between the adhan and iqamah.

The ministry explained that this measure has been introduced in response to the current surge in electricity consumption across various regions, along with ongoing maintenance at several power stations. It emphasized the importance of collective efforts to conserve energy and reiterated its full support for the Ministry of Electricity's energy-saving plan.
