Info sought on cause of delay of operation

MP Abdullah Al-Kandari

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: MP Abdullah Al-Kandari has asked Minister of Health Dr Basel Al-Sabah about the case of a Kuwaiti woman who lost the ability to give birth or will experience difficulties in getting pregnant after a miscarriage as she sustained injuries while her womb was being cleaned, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Kandari said the woman went to the Maternity Hospital in Sabah Health District on Sept 2, 2019. She was admitted as she had a miscarriage and there were two medical opinions to deal with the situation – to clean the womb through operation or not. It took two days for diagnosis before she was taken to the operation room.

“The operation took four and a half hours. After the operation, the husband was notified that the womb was punctured with two holes and will limit the chance of getting pregnant. In case pregnancy happens, the delivery will be through c-section,” the MP added.

He requested for information regarding the cause of delay of operation for two days, why the husband was not consulted before performing endoscopy on his wife, why the husband was informed about two punctures instead of four as the medical report shows, names and qualifications of the doctors who performed the surgery, protocol of doctors if there is difference in opinion on performing any medical operation, medical history of the patient since 2018 and if someone filed any complaint in this regard.
