KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: A number of former MPs and 2020 parliamentary election candidates signed a statement supporting disqualified Fifth Constituency candidate Badr Al-Dahoum in his dispute with the Election Affairs Committee over his disqualification. Former MPs Abdulkareem Al-Kandari, Abdullah Fehad, Shuaib Al-Muwaizri, Osama Al-Manawer, Osama Al-Shaheen, Muhammad Haif Al-Mutairi, Khalid Al- Otaibi, Muhammad Barrak Al-Mutair, Adel Al-Damkhi, Thamer Al-Suwait and Naif Al-Merdas; in addition to Muhammad Al-Muqate’e, Ammar Al-Ajmi and Abdullatif Al-Omairi, signed the statement They condemned the unprecedented step taken by the government when its lawyer attended the court session allotted for deliberations on Al-Dahoum’s request to change the Court of Cassation judge who will issue a verdict on his petition against the decision of the Election Affairs Committee to disqualify him. They stressed that this is a violation of Article 108 of the Procedures Act and an act of conspiracy against democracy.

They hold HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh responsible for such violations, stressing that the judicial authority shall remain a trustworthy institution acting against the abuse and unjust practices of the Interior Ministry.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior is finalizing preparations for the 2020 parliamentary elections scheduled for Saturday. The ministry allocated hotline number 1889888 to receive the queries of citizens, especially those with special needs.

Its website provides services for citizens to determine their polling stations and their number in the roster of voters by simply entering their Civil ID number.
