KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: In a continuing issue reflecting companies' negligence under government contracts, security firms responsible for safeguarding the Kuwait Municipality have delayed employee salary payments for five months. A source within the municipality revealed that these persistent delays highlight significant mismanagement in some companies contracted by government agencies. Despite the municipality consistently providing payments to these companies, they fail to disburse salaries to their employees on time.

The municipality closely monitors these companies' performance monthly, especially regarding employee payments. Several warnings have been issued, with officials emphasizing that it is unacceptable for salaries to be withheld for half a year.

Similarly, a source from the Public Authority for Manpower confirmed that numerous complaints from employees of government-contracted companies are received each month. The Disputes Department investigates these complaints, often finding that some companies manipulate their employees despite receiving full payments from government agencies. Others are on the brink of bankruptcy due to poor management, leading to delays in wage disbursement.

The source further stated that workers under government contracts frequently become victims in disputes between government agencies and companies. These disputes often result in delayed or unpaid wages. Some companies exploit vulnerable employees who are reluctant to take legal action, allowing the companies to continue delaying or reducing salaries under various pretexts.
