Municipality working on plan to beautify Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: A member of the Municipal Council Eng. Abdul Latif Al-Daei says the proposal on Public Places Beautification Regulation, which he and the Municipal Council member Sherifa Al-Shalfan had submitted, aims to regulate individual and collective efforts to beautify various areas in Kuwait. In a press statement, Al-Daei explained that the proposal seeks to highlight the available opportunities for improving and revitalizing public spaces. It also aims to encourage the private sector, individuals, and civil society organizations to take the initiative and participate in beautifying cities, suburbs, and public sites, all under the supervision of Kuwait Municipality, which is the authority responsible for urban development in collaboration with the Municipal Council. Al-Daei revealed that Kuwait Municipality is currently working on setting the legal framework, conditions, and regulations for the Public Places Beautification Regulation.
He said he expects the proposal to be discussed in the Municipal Council shortly, to approve and implement it in 2025. The proposal sets out a clear mechanism for beautifying public places, outlined in eight basic articles, which include:
Allowing beautification efforts by individuals, and public or private entities, under the supervision of Kuwait Municipality.
Coordinating with relevant authorities to obtain approval if the site is under their jurisdiction.
Proposing public sites for beautification
Inviting both the public and private sectors to participate in the enhancement of public sites at no cost to the state’s budget.
Organizing competitions and initiatives for beautifying public spaces under the sponsorship of the private sector without any financial burden on the state.
