RIYADH, Jan 16: Rafael Nadal expressed his belief in the genuine potential for tennis development in Saudi Arabia following his appointment as an ambassador for the Saudi Tennis Federation, holding an impressive 22 major titles. The Saudi Federation outlined that Nadal's role involves spending dedicated time each year in the country to contribute to children's training and foster greater interest in tennis. Plans are underway to establish a tennis training academy.

Despite his withdrawal from the Australian Open due to a muscle injury, Nadal conveyed his enthusiasm in a statement, stating, "Everywhere you see in Saudi Arabia, you can witness growth and progress, and I am excited to be a part of that."

Highlighting the country's commitment to tennis, Saudi Arabia hosted significant matches last year, featuring world number one Novak Djokovic playing against Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka facing Ons Jabeur.
