KUWAIT CITY, June 5: The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior stated that as part of the preparations for the voting process for the 2023 parliamentary elections on June 6, the General Administration of Nationality and Kuwaiti Travel Documents has called on citizens registered on the electoral lists and who did not but wish to apply for a replacement for a lost or damaged nationality certificate must visit the General Administration of Nationality and Kuwaiti Travel Documents in the Dajeej area in person, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the applicant must bring along the original civil card or a recent certificate issued by the Public Authority for Civil Information and 4 personal photos measuring 6x4, during official working hours. The administration added, no one will be allowed to cast the ballot without the original Kuwaiti nationality certificate or a replacement for a lost or damaged document is obtained. Meanwhile, around 3,500 trainees, officers and non-commissioned officers are eligible to vote in the upcoming parliamentary election; since their names are included in the lists of voters, reports Al- Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed this is legal, given that the abovementioned citizens have yet to complete their courses and no decision has been issued regarding their appointment as military personnel. Sources clarified that all those enrolled in military colleges under the ministries of Defense and Interior are allowed to vote, because they have not graduated from the colleges.
