Nazaha refers Ministry of Commerce leaders to public prosecution

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has announced that it is intensifying its efforts to combat corruption and its associated risks. In accordance with Article No. 5, Clause 2 of its establishment law, which allows the Authority to receive and investigate reports and complaints concerning corruption crimes, Nazaha has decided to take action following an investigation that revealed evidence of wrongdoing.

After thorough examination and evidence gathering, Nazaha has referred several leaders and officials within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the Public Prosecution. They are suspected of committing forgery as outlined in Articles (257-259) of Law No. 16 of 1960, which pertains to the Kuwaiti Penal Code. Additionally, the individuals are suspected of unintentional harm to public funds, a violation specified in Article No. (14) of Law No. 1 of 1993 concerning the protection of public assets.

Nazaha has reaffirmed its commitment to investigating all serious information that meets the required conditions, emphasizing the importance of whistleblowers in facilitating access to essential information regarding corruption incidents. The Authority is dedicated to ensuring the highest levels of protection and confidentiality for whistleblowers, in accordance with legal and regulatory standards.
