LOS ANGELES, Feb 21, (Agencies): Following the finalization of his divorce from ex-wife Christine, Kevin Costner is diving into work with the establishment of a new film studio in St George, Utah. The 69-year-old actor is reportedly behind the creation of Territory Film Studios, strategically located approximately 30 minutes from Utah's stunning Zion National Park. Mayor Michele Randall disclosed the exciting development in a recent State of the City address, anticipating groundbreaking to commence in the upcoming spring or summer, contingent on the pace of permit processes for the complex.

Territory Film Studios envisions the construction of 152,750 square feet of studio space within an industrial complex near the city's airport. Notably, the project includes plans for a "Costner-themed" restaurant that will also provide catering services, as reported by The Salt Lake Tribune.

Costner's decision to establish the film studio in St George was influenced by his recent experience filming two upcoming movies for his long-awaited series, Horizon: An American Saga, in the Utah locale. The initial entry in the series is slated for a theatrical release on June 28, followed by the sequel less than two months later in August. Facing challenges in finding suitable warehouse space for scenes, Costner decided to invest in building a dedicated film studio in the area.

Joyce Kelly, a sales and event manager with Utah's Greater Zion Tourism Office, expressed that Costner has developed a deep affinity for the state during the filming of Horizon. She revealed Costner's plans to return to St George for the filming of the series' third and fourth installments. Costner has been working on Horizon in various forms since 1988, showcasing his long-standing commitment to the project and the region.
