Season two will continue the story of Player 456, who remains determined to uncover and dismantle the sinister organization behind the deadly games. Returning cast members for the upcoming season include Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. The new season will also feature Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.

A third and final season is planned for release in 2025. Netflix's CEO, Ted Sarandos, hinted at the show's expansive future during the 2022 fourth-quarter earnings call, stating, "The Squid Game universe has just begun."
