New English proficiency test required for foreign mission employees

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Employees in foreign missions with the rank of advisor or below and the administrators will be required to pass an English language proficiency test, says an official source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The source stressed that “no employee in these job grades is exempted from the test and anyone who wishes to continue working in foreign missions must pass it.”

The source confirmed that “Saud Al- Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute announced the English language proficiency test; indicating that in compliance with the directive of the assistant minister, registration is now open for the fifth round of the test. The British Council has been selected as the accredited body to conduct this test.”

The source said those who will take the test will be provided with the necessary instructions, disclosing the test will be conducted remotely. “The test will be standardized for employees in the missions and the headquarters, with different formats to ensure the integrity of the assessment,” he explained. He clarified all the concerned employees, including those who have not taken the test before or those who have taken it but did not pass, are required to take the test.
