KUWAIT CITY, March 13: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi emphasized the importance of completing all operational preparations for the new Infectious Diseases Hospital according to the established timeline. This will ensure the hospital is ready to provide health services promptly, enhancing the health sector’s capacity to meet patients' needs and bringing about a qualitative shift in the country's healthcare system.
In a press statement on Wednesday, following a field visit to the hospital's construction site, Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted the need to provide integrated medical services that adhere to the highest quality standards. This would ensure both the comfort of patients and visitors and meet their health needs efficiently and effectively.
The Minister noted the ongoing implementation of the Ministry’s development plans, which aim to improve the quality of healthcare for both citizens and residents. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing the health system's readiness to align with future aspirations.
During the visit, Dr. Al-Awadhi made several observations and directed the relevant technical and administrative teams to ensure that the hospital operates according to the highest standards of quality and operational readiness. He stressed the urgency of completing all preparations to ensure the facility is fully prepared to serve patients and visitors in a safe, integrated medical environment.
The Minister was accompanied by Undersecretary Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs and Projects Ibrahim Al-Naham, Assistant Undersecretary for Medicines and Medical Equipment Khaled Al-Yassin, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Munther Al-Hasawi, along with several Ministry officials, directors of relevant departments, and medical, technical, engineering, and administrative teams.
The visit included a tour of the hospital’s various departments and facilities. Dr. Al-Awadhi inspected the departments to ensure that necessary preparations were completed before the hospital officially opens. He also received a detailed explanation of the medical and technical equipment as well as the hospital’s operational plan, which complies with the highest international quality and safety standards.
The new Infectious Diseases Hospital is one of Kuwait’s most prominent modern healthcare projects. Spanning 46,523 square meters, the hospital covers a total building area of 74,000 square meters. It features a basement, ground floor, five upper floors, and a rooftop, with a capacity of 224 beds equipped with the latest medical technology.
The hospital includes a range of integrated medical departments such as emergency services, medical records, radiology, a main pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, laboratories, outpatient clinics, a sterilization department, dental clinics, physiotherapy, and parking spaces both in front of the building and in the basement. These facilities provide an all-encompassing healthcare environment, equipped according to the latest international medical standards.
This project aligns with the Ministry of Health’s strategy to enhance the quality of health services and strengthen the health sector’s ability to handle various medical cases by establishing advanced medical facilities. These facilities will keep pace with the latest developments in the health sector and provide a comprehensive treatment environment based on the highest international standards.
