Kuwait Municipality signs contract to build Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal House Museum, celebrating the depth of Kuwaiti-Saudi relations.

KUWAIT CITY, March 9: Acting Director General of Kuwait Municipality, Eng. Manal AlAsfour, signed a contract on Sunday to establish the Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Museum in the Mubarakiya Markets, Kuwait City. The museum will be a historical and cultural landmark as part of the municipality’s strategy to develop Mubarakiya into a major tourist and cultural destination.

In a press statement, the municipality explained that the museum will be located within the Mubarakiya Markets, near Al-Bahr Mosque and the Central Gold Market, in the fourth commercial block of the Qibla area. The project will include a museum designed to replicate the original building of Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal’s house, along with supporting museums, commercial buildings, a basement, and a café. The total area of the project will span 4,490 square meters, with a one-year duration allotted for the design study.

The museum aims to reflect the deep historical ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, particularly highlighting the era of brotherly relations between the two nations. It will tell the story of the House of Al Saud and the shared history of the Kuwaiti and Saudi peoples, emphasizing the significance of Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal, who once resided in the Mubarakiya area of Kuwait City.

The museum will showcase the historical and familial connections between the leaderships and peoples of both countries, underscoring Kuwait’s commitment to preserving their shared heritage. It will also reflect the lifestyle and traditions of the time, emphasizing the common cultural values between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The museum will serve as a reminder to future generations of the enduring bond between the two nations and the legacy that links the past with the present.
