Cooperative Societies introduce daily updated platform to combat price manipulation.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The President of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, Musab Al-Mulla, has announced the launch of a new "Prices Platform" involving 70 societies. This platform, updated daily by price monitors, aims to control prices and limit manipulation by posting the prices of various items, including consumer products, vegetables, and fruits.

Speaking on the Money and Business program on the Al-Akhbar Channel, Al-Mulla explained that the platform's goal is to inform consumers of product availability and prices before they visit the associations. The platform will be monitored by the Federation of Associations, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Ministry of Commerce, ensuring coordinated oversight.

Al-Mulla emphasized the role of the Federation of Associations as the primary link and first line of defense between the cooperative societies, state institutions, and individuals. He highlighted the importance of cooperative societies in Kuwaiti culture, noting that their primary mission since inception has been to provide high-quality goods at the lowest prices and to serve the community proactively.

Discussing the project to Kuwaitize supervisory positions within cooperative societies, Al-Mulla revealed that a timetable is in place. All societies have submitted their vacancy lists, and there is a comprehensive plan to Kuwaitize non-supervisory positions, providing employment opportunities for Kuwaitis.

Al-Mulla noted that Kuwait has a total of 75 cooperative societies and 8 parallel markets. These cooperative societies account for about 75 percent of retail trade in Kuwait, with 493,000 shareholders and annual sales nearing one billion dinars.
