DUBAI, Dec 24: On Monday, the Department of Human Resources in Sharjah declared January 1, 2024, as the official New Year's holiday for all government departments, bodies, and institutions in the emirate. Normal working hours are set to resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, providing government employees with a four-day weekend.

This follows the earlier announcement by the federal government and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, designating January 1 as a holiday for employees in both the public and private sectors across the country, resulting in a three-day weekend for the majority.

Additionally, the Dubai authority has also granted a New Year's paid holiday for its government sector on January 1, 2024, which falls on a Monday.
