KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: Colonel Othman Al-Gharib, Head of the Press Department at the General Department of Security Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, addressed recent rumors regarding the monitoring of social media and recording of calls during an interview on Kuwait TV today.
Colonel Al-Gharib clarified that these claims are unfounded, emphasizing that the ministry's procedures are standard and transparent. He reiterated that the Ministry of Interior does not engage in monitoring social media or recording calls without due cause.
He explained that the current activities involve routine follow-ups by relevant authorities on social media, aimed at ensuring security and public safety. Colonel Al-Gharib urged the public to disregard false news and rumors, underscoring the ministry's commitment to maintaining clarity and upholding normal procedural standards.
