KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has confirmed the availability of imported vegetables and onions in the local market, while vehemently denying the alleged hoarding of vegetables and other goods in Kuwaiti ports or warehouses, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources quoted the ministry as saying that there are multiple sources of imported vegetables and onions. In a related development, Chairman of the Kuwait Society for Consumer Protection Khaled Al-Subaie affirmed that Turkish, Iranian, and Jordanian onions are being sold at prices ranging from 240 to 250 fils per kilo in Shubrat Al-Khadar Vegetable Market. He stressed there is no onion crisis in the local market; indicating that he contacted some onion traders or importers in Kuwait and they assured him that Yemeni, Indian and Egyptian onions will be available in the next few days.
