North West

LOS ANGELES, May 27: North West, the ten-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, made her acting debut as Young Simba during The Lion King’s 30th Anniversary concert on Friday, stunning audiences at The Hollywood Bowl. However, her performance has sparked controversy online, with critics accusing her of benefiting from nepotism.

Taking to the stage to perform “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,” North impressed attendees, including her parents, who were also present at the concert. Despite her moment in the spotlight, social media users on various platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter), expressed skepticism about her casting in the coveted role.

Some users criticized what they perceived as North’s advantage due to her famous parents. One commenter sarcastically remarked, “Nepotism is the best thing to be born with,” while another labeled the situation as “the worst case of nepo” they had seen. Others questioned the fairness of North securing the role, suggesting that her family’s fame played a significant role in her selection.

Criticism also focused on the perceived injustice faced by other talented children who may have missed out on the opportunity. Several commenters expressed sympathy for aspiring young performers who might have been overlooked in favor of North. One user accused the casting decision of exemplifying “classism at its finest.”

Despite the backlash, it remains unclear whether North went through a standard audition process for the role. DailyMail.com reached out to a Kardashian spokesperson for comment on the matter.

North’s casting in the live-to-film concert event, which spanned two nights on May 24 and May 25 at The Hollywood Bowl, was announced earlier this month. The venue, known for its capacity to accommodate up to 17,500 people, hosted the event, with tickets starting at $60.
