Not all naturalized children will lose their citizenship: official

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: A prominent government source has clarified recent rumors regarding the revocation of Kuwaiti citizenship from the children of Kuwaiti women who acquired citizenship through their mothers. In response to a question posed by a local daily newspaper, the source firmly stated, “It is not true that all children of Kuwaiti women who obtained citizenship through their mothers will have their citizenship revoked. However, a significant number of them will indeed lose their Kuwaiti citizenship.”

The source further explained that the cut-off year for the revocation of citizenship for those naturalized under Article 8 of the Nationality Law is 1987, according to the opinions of constitutional experts.

Additionally, the source emphasized that citizenship would also be revoked from individuals involved in fraudulent activities. “Anyone who has forged documents, provided false information, or engaged in deception will have their citizenship revoked because they do not deserve it,” the source said. However, they stressed that the revocation of citizenship from Kuwaiti women’s children should not be compared to the loss of citizenship from forgers, pointing out that clear cases of forgery have been identified, revealing various methods of deception.
