Nurseries Face Stricter Oversight as Manpower Authority Steps In

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 29: Sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs have revealed that a joint committee involving stakeholders overseeing private nurseries has granted the Public Authority for Manpower the authority to evaluate each nursery's staffing needs. This includes assessing the number of workers required and assigning appropriate job titles that align with the nature of the work, in coordination with the administration, the Nurseries Union, and the Manpower Authority.

The sources also announced the formation of a specialized committee composed of all relevant parties to investigate violations, each within its area of jurisdiction. The process will follow legal procedures in stages, beginning with warnings for minor violations and, if necessary, leading to file closure and license revocation for more severe breaches.

Additionally, the Public Authority for Manpower has announced that recipients of national labor support can now update their information through the "Sahel" application, eliminating the need for in-person visits to labor departments.

The sources confirmed that efforts are underway to automate all procedures for both national and expatriate workers through the "Sahel" app, aiming to simplify processes for citizens.
