LOS ANGELES, Nov 4: Olivia Rodrigo shared an “oddly specific question” she uses on first dates to steer clear of men with red flags. In a recent interview with Netflix, the singer discussed this topic while promoting her new music documentary, "GUTS World Tour," now available on the streaming platform. During the conversation, she also explained the meanings behind some of her iconic tour tank tops, including one that pays tribute to Britney Spears.
In a brief clip shared by Netflix, Rodrigo explained her unique strategy for identifying red flags on first dates. She revealed that she always asks her dates, “Would you want to go to space?” If the answer is “yes,” she decides not to pursue a relationship. She elaborated on her reasoning, stating, “I just think if you want to go to space you’re a little too full of yourself,” calling the desire to go to space “weird.” Netflix humorously captioned the video with “see ya nvr space men.”
Rodrigo also took time in the interview to talk about the inspirations behind her signature tank tops from the GUTS World Tour. Each top has its own story, beginning with one that reads, “We come to this place for magic,” which references Nicole Kidman’s famous intro for AMC Theatres. She remarked that the intro is “sometimes better than the movie itself.” Another tank top, which says “Dump Him,” serves as a “classic homage to Miss Britney Spears.”
After discussing the tank tops, Rodrigo returned to her first date question. One of her tops features the phrase “Pisces Princess,” which she proudly identified with, affirming her pride in being a Pisces. Another shirt read, “I kiss better than I cook,” which she declared is “true,” adding that she considers herself a “good kisser” while also striving to improve her cooking skills. The final tank top, “Carrie Bradshaw AF,” references her favorite show, "Sex and the City," and she wore it during her performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the setting of the show.
