KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: Results of laboratory tests conducted by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition showed that samples of onions imported from Egypt are safe for human consumption, reports Al-Rai daily. This puts an end to the controversy on the import of onions from Egypt which started when the price of onions in local markets increased remarkably. A reliable source from the authority affirmed that the onions from Egypt are not contaminated with sewerage water and they comply with specifications, indicating the authority is still testing samples of pomegranates and melons. It has been reported that the country started importing tons of Egyptian onions after lifting the embargo which came when the price of onions skyrocketed due to lack of supply.
