Over 1,100 Kuwaitis obtained US Green Cards in 2022

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: A recent statistic has revealed that 1,116 individuals born in Kuwait were granted permanent residency in the United States (green cards) in 2022. Among these, 339 obtained their residency through relatives who are American citizens, 175 through family sponsorship, 328 through employment, 127 through the diversity visa program, and 144 as refugees. Additionally, three individuals received their green cards for other reasons.

This data was published by CNN Arabic, referencing the latest report from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which tracks foreign nationals who received legal permanent residency (green cards), temporary non-immigrant status, asylum, refugee status, or naturalization in 2022.

According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, a green card, or permanent resident card, allows holders to live and work permanently in the United States.

The report also highlighted that Egypt ranked highest among Middle Eastern countries, with 8,348 citizens obtaining green cards in 2022, followed by Yemen with 5,648 and Jordan with 4,779.
