KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: In a recent announcement, the Public Authority for Manpower disclosed that the total number of registered domestic workers' offices under its administration has reached 450. The statistics, released by the Department for Regulating the Recruitment of Domestic Workers for December, shed light on various aspects of the offices' activities.
According to the Authority's report, during the specified period, the administration received requests for the cancellation of three offices. Additionally, 12 professional practice licenses were issued, and 22 practice licenses were renewed. Furthermore, the suspension of four offices was lifted, while a total of 271 complaints were registered. The number of currently suspended offices stands at seven.
It's noteworthy that the Department of Regulating the Recruitment of Domestic Workers plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of offices and companies engaged in recruiting domestic workers. This oversight aligns with Kuwaiti Domestic Workers Law No. 68 of 2015 and Ministerial Resolution No. 22 of 2022, which outlines the executive regulations for Law No. 68 of 2015 concerning domestic workers.
The legislation initially mandated the issuance of an approved license from the Public Authority for Manpower for entities practicing the recruitment of domestic workers. Subsequently, the law set specific conditions that must be met for obtaining and maintaining a license to practice. Importantly, the law also delineated the obligations of recruitment offices and companies towards the parties involved in the process of contracting for domestic workers.
