KUWAIT CITY, Sept 8: In a bid to monitor and ensure that the best possible services are offered to patients in hospitals around the country, MP Majed Al-Mutairi submitted a proposal to form a medical committee which will receive and follow up medical malpractices or errors reported by patients or concerned individuals.
He said the committee will also submit recommendations regarding every medical malpractice case to the High Council for Medicine, which will take the necessary action.
He pointed out this will shorten the period for processing such cases and significantly enhance medical supervision, considering the recent increase in the number of medical malpractice cases that led to loss of lives.
He added these recent events clearly indicate the lack of supervision and preparedness of hospitals in terms of dealing with medical errors despite the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health.
