LOS ANGELES, Feb 17, (Agencies): Thanks to the unwavering support of dedicated Beatles fans, Paul McCartney has finally been reunited with his long-lost bass guitar, thanks to The Lost Bass Project. The music legend’s iconic Höfner electric bass, stolen over 50 years ago, has been returned to him, as officially announced on McCartney’s website.

The news follows months of diligent efforts by a team of fans who initiated The Lost Bass Project, aiming to locate McCartney’s 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, a renowned instrument often hailed as one of the “most important bass guitars in history.” The guitar mysteriously disappeared sometime after 1969.

A statement on McCartney’s website expressed gratitude, stating, “Following the launch of last year’s Lost Bass project, Paul’s 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, which was stolen in 1972, has been returned. The guitar has been authenticated by Höfner, and Paul is incredibly grateful to all those involved.”

According to The Lost Bass Project’s website, the instrument was discovered with its original case and will soon be playable again after undergoing minor repairs. The group, led by former Höfner GmbH marketing manager Nick Wass, former BBC journalist Scott Jones, and television producer Naomi Jones, shared details on the successful recovery, revealing that they received “over 100 leads” last year that ultimately led them to the missing bass guitar.
